RNTP 2025: Passenger numbers at the heart of passenger information

Affluences is once again participating in the Rencontres Nationales du Transport Public (RNTP) conference!

This is an opportunity for us to present our flow management solution, which supports transport operators at every stage of the journey:

• counting technologies (3D counters, cameras equipped with computer vision algorithms) that measure passenger numbers on public transport or in stations, in order to better distribute flows and avoid congestion.

• channels for communicating this information directly to passengers via apps and display panels, enabling them to choose the best time or route for a more relaxed journey.

For several years, Affluences has been supporting transport operators in the intelligent management of passenger flows. Our solutions are based on cutting-edge counting technologies (3D sensors, cameras equipped with computer vision algorithms) capable of measuring passenger numbers in real time on public transport or in stations.

This data enables better distribution of passenger flows, avoids congestion and provides a smoother travel experience.

When design and innovation come together in the service of multimodality

It is often the little extras that make transport more pleasant and safer. At Affluences, we are working to enhance passenger information with new smart screens displaying combined indicators: parking availability, transport load rates, waiting times, etc.

A concrete example: the Annecy metropolitan area, which already displays car park availability on its website (see here), will soon offer public transport occupancy information to allow users to compare different modes of transport.

A patented technology currently being rolled out across France!

In 2023, Affluences patented a new smart counting technology. From the platforms, sensors will scan passengers through the windows and directly determine the load rate: a revolution for the transport sector, which is accustomed to installing counting devices in vehicles, thereby increasing costs and operational challenges.

This is a key moment for the rapidly changing transport sector and an opportunity for us to discuss the new challenges of passenger information.
